Many items such as fake blood can easily be created at home.
Corn Syrup Blood
1 oz. red food coloring
1 oz. washing detergent (Do not add for edible blood!)
1 oz. water
16 oz. White corn syrup
A drop of blue food coloring

Mix the ingredients together to create the fake blood. The Corn Syrup Blood is extremely sticky and can stain clothes and skin. Take your time. Most makeup kits if purchased from a store contain only enough contents to create the one desired effect. If you can easily put on your costume without disturbing your makeup or getting it on your costume, do your makeup first. If your costume is difficult to put on place a towel around your neck to avoid drips and spills.

Pull back your hair. Grab a mirror and plan where you want to apply your makeup. Avoid placing makeup near the eyes.

Traditional Halloween Makeup Tips
By Kim Snyder

You do not have to be an ugly spirit or dead man walking to enjoy Halloween fantasies. However many people still love the old traditional underworld characters and spirit of Halloween. Apply base paint: This white base paint should make your complexion lighter but not become a mask like a cheerful clown. Eye shadow: This should be dark blue, purple, or even black. Apply around your eyes from brow to lash. Eyeliner: put a generous amount around the eyes. This will help to accentuate your eye shadow.

Remember do not blend this make up use translucent powder between layers of base paint. Read directions carefully and test a small patch of skin if necessary.

Making non toxic blood:
Mix 3 parts of corn syrup to 1 part of water
Add red food coloring drop by drop until a realistic blood color is reached
Remember to wear old clothes as it can stain light cloth.
Enjoy!
